South Sumatra Province is known as Srivijaya Earth centuries ago. In the 7th century until the 12th century AD this area was the center of Srivijaya kingdom.

In the early 15th century Palembang Sultanate stood. The Empire is in power until the coming of Western colonialism, followed by Japan. While still prevail, the kingdom of Srivijaya was also made as the City of Palembang Kingdom.
