Riau is a province of Indonesia. The province is located on the island of Sumatra. Riau Province in the north bordering the Malacca Strait and North Sumatra provinces; to the south with the provinces of Jambi and West Sumatra provinces; in the east bordering the province of Riau Islands and the Strait of Malacca, and in the west bordering the province of West Sumatra and North Sumatra Province . Size Riau Province 8,915,015.09 square km and a population of 5,070,952 inhabitants.

Riau also has a sea area as far as 12 miles from the coastline. Riau is rich in natural resources, both wealth contained in the bowels of the earth, in the form of oil and natural gas, gold, etc.. and the wealth of forest and plantations, not to mention the wealth of rivers and oceans.

This province has 15 rivers, including the following 4 major rivers that have significance as a means of transportation, such as the Siak River (300 Km), Rokan River (400 Km), Kampar River (400 Km), and Indragiri River (500 Km). The river is split 4 mountainous highlands of Bukit Barisan. Those rivers flowing into the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea.
