Bangka Belitung Islands Province is also known as the province of a thousand coastal reefs. Area adjacent to the area of Bangka Belitung province in the north of the Natuna Sea, the eastern part of Karimata Strait, Java Sea south again, and the western part of Bangka Strait.

This province consists of seven districts, namely Kab. Bangka, Kab. Belitung, Kab. Bangka Barat, Kab. Central Bangka, Kab. Bangka Selatan, Kab. East Belitung, and the City Pangkalpinang. Two large islands of Bangka and Belitung became a province of the Law No. 27 Year 2000 on 21 November 2000.
