Bengkulu geographically located between 2 º 16 '- 3 º 31' south latitude and 101 º 1 '- 103 º 41' East Longitude. Northern border of West Sumatra province, bordering the southern Indian Ocean and the province of Lampung, west of the Indian Ocean, and east of the province of Jambi and South Sumatra.

Bengkulu name taken from the story of the war against the people of Aceh who want to apply for Princess Gading Cempaka, the son of Queen Court, King River Serut. Since the proposal was rejected, there was a war. Children in, Gading Cempaka siblings who succeeded as King of Great Queen River Serut shouted, "ka Upper Pond - Upper Pond ka" which means they are blocking and do not let them set foot into our land.
